A Personal Statement From the Author

Why I Wrote The Light Up The Darkness Trilogy

These three books are not merely books I am writing. They are changing me.

They are working on me as I work on them—calling me toward greater honesty, wakefulness, reverence, discipline, and alignment with what is right.

Inside the Work

I am not writing these books from a distance.

I am working through them. The words are not abstract to me. They ask something of me. They examine me. They correct me.

I think deeply about what is written because it involves my own life. The books lead me back to what matters. They make me look at the kind of person I am becoming and the kind of person I am being called to become.

In a very real way, it feels as though I am building a pathway for my own life to follow.

And yet, the deeper I go, the more I feel that this pathway was not built by me alone. It was built for me to walk. It was given to me through the act of writing, through reflection, through struggle, through longing, and through the desire to live more faithfully by the light within.

I am shaping the books, but the books are shaping me.

That is why this series has become so much more than a creative project. It has become a path of transformation. It has become a way of returning. It has become a mirror, a discipline, a vow, and a call.

The Pathway Across Three Books

Each book asks something different of my life

1

Return to the inner light

Light Up The Darkness teaches me to return to the inner light and carry it with perseverance.

2

Tend what is deepest

The Sacred Fire Within teaches me to tend what is deepest, truest, and most easily neglected.

3

Lift my eyes toward a larger world

We Were Never Alone asks me to consider what humanity may still be called to become.

The Work of Transformation

Together, these books are making me into a different person.

Not perfect, not finished, and not beyond struggle—but more awake to the kind of life I am called to live. A life more honest in self-examination, more disciplined in love, more reverent in action, and more willing to be corrected by truth.

I feel called toward a life less governed by ego, fear, distraction, and habit. One whose motives are being refined, whose conscience is being sharpened, and whose actions are being brought into greater alignment with goodness, wisdom, and the sacred responsibility of being human.

These books are literally life changing for me. They are not only something I hope to give to readers. They are something that has been given to me through the process of writing them.

I am inside the work. I am being formed by it. I am learning from it. I am being asked to live what it says.

A Path I Needed Too

This pathway was not given to me only so that I might place it before others.

It was given to me because I needed it too.

The experiences of my life were not random to me. They became a kind of instruction, a long and mysterious preparation, a sacred burden, and eventually a task. I was given the work of writing this series for humanity—not as one standing above the path, but as one walking it, struggling through it, being corrected by it, and being changed by it.

At first, it was one book: Light Up The Darkness: A Fluorescent Awakening. In its First Edition form, I tried to speak honestly from a lifetime of extraordinary experiences—more specifically, from a period of about fifteen years in which those experiences became profound, life-altering, and impossible to ignore.

In that First Edition, I tried to tell what had happened. I tried to explain those experiences as best I could from within the mystery of having lived them.

But the Second Edition is different.

In the Second Edition, I am no longer only trying to explain what happened to me. I am trying to offer the path that was revealed through it—the way of return, remembrance, reverence, discipline, love, and inward light that I learned through my life, through my experiences, and through the teachings I was given.

When the Work Began Working on Me

I did not fully anticipate that the path would begin guiding me.

It would not only be written through me. It would begin working on me. It would begin asking me to slow down, return, sit with the words, and consider what they require of my own life.

I have had to ask where I am still unformed, where I still need correction, where I still need tenderness, where I still need discipline, and where I still need to return to the light within and live more faithfully from it.

In that sense, these books have become more than something I am writing. They have become a pathway I am being asked to walk. They have become a sacred task given to my life—a form of guidance, mercy, remembrance, and rescue.

They have literally helped save my life.

Because this pathway was given to me both for my own transformation and for the awakening of others, I cannot keep it only for myself. I offer it with humility, love, gentleness, and sincerity—as one who is still learning, still being changed, and still being helped by the very words he is trying to give away.

May it help awaken in us a deeper responsibility, a wider reverence, and a more sacred understanding of what it means to carry light in the darkness.

And may whatever has been given to me through these experiences become, in some small but faithful way, part of my life’s purpose and my legacy to humanity.
